COMPUTER LAB
Keeping in view the growing importance of computer learning, the college has established a well-equipped computer lab to keep the students abreast with the latest computer knowledge. It can accommodate 60 students at a time.The college has high-tech computer with LAN and internet services through wireless connectivity, and LCD projection systems, hardware and software, printers, scanners.Students, faculty and staff have access to the computer labs, which provide the tools and technologies to produce websites, edit papers, complete class assignments, communicate via email, conduct data analyses and access library resources. Microsoft Windows software is available for word processing, statistics, spreadsheets and database management. A variety of graphics and website-creation software programs are also available.
The computers in the lab are well configured suitable for the users. These computers are upgraded as per the need of university syllabus and the software version change.
The computer and related electronic equipment are tested and maintained with a scheduled frequency to keep the facility up and running.
From the academic year 2011-12 Self financing course is provided for H.S. 1st year students and BA 1st sem students. During academic year 2012-13 and onwards Computer Skill course was introduced for B.A. 3rd semester General and Major Class by Dibrugarh University. As such Furkating College successfully provides computer skill course for the same from 2012 July session to till now.
From the last year we can started a new computer course for all the degree students which is known as Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and Spoken Tutorial is an initiative of “National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT)’ and MHRD, Govt. of India. This course has been designed by IIT, Mumbai and has been introduced by them free of cost in the colleges and universities of Assam in collaboration with the office of the Director, Higher Education, Assam as one of its knowledge partners.
Strategies for deploying and upgrading the IT infrastructure and related facilities?
- ICT enabled classrooms to have been introduced for enriching the teaching and learning process.
- More number of hardware and software are added to cater to the needs of the students and staff.
- Every department has Internet facility to speed up the activities like browsing and research.
- Interactive boards, Digital visualizer, Electronic podium, Digital slate etc. have been added to upgrade the IT infrastructure facilities.
